Anchor in the mud from 3-7 meters well offshore. Preferably well past the end of the long 800-meter well, or north of it, as it is used every day by speedboats, day trip catamarans and watercraft of all types, sizes and speeds. The handling power is very good and the biggest danger is other boats with less moorings towing you in strong winds.

Alternatively, moorings can be arranged for a fee. Check with Captain Brent at Phuket Cruising Yacht Club (PCYC) for details on prices, location and security of moorings. During the southwest monsoon, it is one of the few well-protected harbours on the island (although the swell of the land can be avoided). During the Northeast season, on the other hand, conditions can be a little rough because of the long transit time in the bay, which can make the ferry on the coast uncomfortable. . There are about 10 days a month when, due to rain, sailing to the beach is not possible for a few hours.

Phuket Yacht Club (formerly known as Ao Chalong Yacht Club) is located on the beach half a mile north of the harbour at 7°49.634N, 98°20.885E. There is a dinghy that floats in front of the club that offers a long stretch of space. Twice a month, keelboat and multihull competitions take place at low tide and welcome guests. There are youth courses in the RYA available.

The club’s high-end restaurant and bar overlooks the bay and is a meeting place for well-oiled sailors and is ideal for business meetings. There is a useful bulletin board where users and potential boaters can log in and the boats advertise items for sale. Monthly subscriptions are available for visiting ships. Next door is a decorative lighthouse that used to be a sailing restaurant called The Lighthouse. At the time of this writing, it has been closed for several months. A short trip to the north (behind the small house) is the PCYC, a favourite place for boaters and part of the local area. PCYC offers food and drinks at very low prices and information on all things water-related including boating. Many other restaurants and bars, both along the river and inland on the two western roads, also bring in the boating crowd, a fact reflected in the series. their price.

Take one of these routes to Chalong Circle, a five-lane road with bustling shopping malls. The road was completed in 2019 running north to south under the circle, with roads leading to Rawai, Nai Harn, Kata, Phuket Town and the main road in the north of the island, passing the new shopping centre on the way. to the airport.
